He was afraid it would be too soft, too. He brought home like 5 different samples.. 3 hardwood and 2 bamboo. He dropped a hammer from waist height on all of them and believe it or not the bamboo had the least damage. They've had it for about 3 years now and the only damage there is on it is where the refrigerator repairman moved the fridge too roughly and theres four scratch marks where it slid across the bamboo. It's REALLY beautiful. I love hardwood and I didn't think I'd like it but it looks amazing. Maybe you need to look at several different brands?
